Ingredients
1 (12 oz) pkg frozen cherries, thawed and drained
1/4 cup plus 2 Tbs granulated sugar, divided
2 Tbs cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 (14 oz) pkg Brookshire’s Refrigerated Pie Crusts
1 large egg, beaten
chocolate or caramel sauce, for serving
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cherries, 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, vanilla and cinnamon. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring frequently. Cook, stirring often, until cherries begin to break down and juices thicken (about 10 minutes). Let cool completely.
  3. Unroll one pie crust onto prepared baking sheet. Spread cherry mixture onto pie crust in a thin, even layer. Top with the second crust.
  4. Brush with egg, and sprinkle with remaining sugar. Using a pizza cutter, cut into fry shapes. Bake until crust is golden, about 35 to 40 minutes. Let cool. Serve with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping.
